History 421 – Well done to groups two and three for their informative presentations today on ‘Korea & Japan’ and ‘Early Africa’. We will continue with presentations tomorrow. Remember to be prepared in case anyone is absent. (And if you are absent, I will need a note explaining a valid excuse…this is a major project! You must present in order to be eligible for the credit!)
English 9A – Today we continued reading aloud from our novel. We also went over the answers to the last few chapters’ questions. Students should have Chapter 11 Part 3 questions completed for Thursday. Tomorrow we will continue to work on our slide shows.

History 421 – Today we started our group presentations. Everyone should be prepared to present tomorrow – no matter where your group is in the schedule – in the event that anyone is absent and we have to rearrange.
English 9A – Students were given today’s class to work on their group slide show presentations in the computer lab. Presentations start a week from today. Tomorrow, we will be going over questions from chapters 10 and 11 (part one and two) and continuing to read from Mischling.

History 421 – Today we covered Section 2, ‘Economic and Cultural Growth’. Students are asked to complete the study guide for this section tonight. Remember that the test for this chapter will be on Friday!
English 9A – Students are expected to have questions to the end of Chapter 11, Part 2 completed for tomorrow.

History 421 – Today we discussed ‘The Crusades’ and students are expected to complete the corresponding study guide sheet for homework tonight. Tomorrow we will cover section two. Reminder: Presentations start a week from today, and there will be a test on Chapter 12 this Friday!
English 9A – Today, our 9A peer helper, grade 11 student Candice McIntosh, taught the class about the importance of voting. We will return to our novels tomorrow. I will be doing a homework check to see that answers are up to date!

History 421 – Today the test for Chapter 11 was written. We also started Chapter 12. Students are expected to have the chart of terms, people and places completed for Monday.
English 9A – Today we read Chapter 11 Part 1 (up to page 183) and worked on the corresponding questions. For those who were gone on the Spartans Strides for Strokes walk, the questions are as follows:
1. Who is Jolanthe, and how is he important?
2. Describe Grossmutter during an air raid.
3. Who are the Watzlawiks, and what are they like?
4. What secret did Eberhard share with Ilse?
5. How did they figure out when there would be an air raid (in advance of the sirens)?

History 421 – Today we discussed Section 4 ‘Rise of the European Monarchy’. Tomorrow we will review for Friday’s test. Everyone is expected to go over the notes and study guides from this chapter to prepare for tomorrow’s review.
English 9A – Today we had lesson 21 spelling test, and the prestest for lesson 22. Students then worked on lesson 22 spelling exercises, which should be completed for tomorrow. In addition, there will be a test on Chapters 1-9 for those students reading Mischling.

History 421 - Today we went over Section 2 ‘The Medieval Church’. Also, groups met to prepare presentation proposals. Students are expected to read Section 4 and complete the study guide for this section for tomorrow’s class. (Test Friday)
English 9A - Today we went over the answers to chapter 8, 9 and 10 (part 1) questions. We read part of Chapter 10 (part 2). Students are expected to finish this part (to page 144) and answer the questions for tomorrow.

History 421 – Today, we reviewed the chapter on ‘Islam’ for tomorrow’s test. Don’t forget that the map is included!
English 9A – We are continuing to work through Mischling, second degree (or Jacob Have I Loved) which include questions for each chapter. Students reading Mischling are asked to complete chapter six questions for tomorrow.

History 421 – Today we talked about ‘The Spread of Islam’, and watched part of a video on Iran. Tonight, students are expected to finish reading Section 2 on the Islamic State, and to complete the corresponding study guide.
English 9A – We continue to read and discuss Mischling, second degree. Students are expected to read chapters 3 and 4, and to have answered the corresponding questions.

History 421 – Today we split up the reading for Section One “Rise of Islam” and each group presented the important information about Arab life before Islam, Muhammed, and the beliefs and practices of Muslims. Students are expected to finish the second half of the study guide for this section. Tomorrow we will cover Section 2, “Spread of Islam”.
English 9A – Spelling test for Lesson 20 was today – if you were absent and would like to write it, please see me. We continued on reading our novels. Students reading Mischling, second degree are expected to have chapter 2 questions completed for tomorrow.
